Hurtful truth or comforting denial... Which one would you choose..?

At some point each one of us must have been confronted with something fearful that probably we are forced to choose between closing our eyes and pretending that the 'boogey-man' doesn't exist or simply accepting and facing the fact. An Inconvenient Truth is a great multiple award-winning documentary movie about that boogey-man, which would be more appropriate to be called as the global boogey-man..., yeah it's global warming.

Global Warming has been sparking debate all around the world, dividing people into three categories, the believer, the skeptic and the heck-I-care. I'm not defending any side but if you are confronted with solid numbers and convincing explanations like the ones you're going to see in this film, then it's just natural to start to believe that there's something happening out there in our world. But the bottom line is, that this documentary movie is a very good one. Not bombastic or fantastic, but the presentation definitely worth seeing as well as it is also amusing. So I really think An Inconvenient Truth is something that you must see even though only once.

An Inconvenient Truth is presented in overall by Al Gore alone. Al Gore is an active environmentalist, and was the vice president of the United States from 1993 to 2001, but most importantly in this subject matter, he's a Nobel Prize winner in 2007 for peace. If you are interested in knowing more about Global Warming or simply just curious of what-the-heck have the people around you or in TV been talking about, then seeing this documentary film is a great option. Al Gore, who apparently by the time this movie was produced had been a very legitimate speaker of this environmental/political/moral issue for having given lectures/speeches about global warming for numerous times around the world, is an excellent speaker. No wonder he could explain to us in detail the danger of global warming and with solid back up of scary numbers and charts about what is happening currently in the world, An Inconvenient Truth is an enjoyable documentary to your knowledge-thirst brain cells.

Interestingly as an adult, this is probably the first time I ever feel the fear of numbers since the last time on the math class while in school, well except for low paycheck probably :-). Actually to think it with clear sense of belonging and altruism, these numbers and charts are more scarier. Apparently we do live in something that we are constantly having fun in destroying it, breaking it with zero sense of belonging and we are apparently and probably the most selfish and indifferent generations ever lived in this world.

Hmm I never though I would say those lines, but truly seeing An Inconvenient Truth is a different experience that seeing other documentary movies that probably have more intention in selling their copies of DVD instead of conveying something essential or important. I am no scientist, but at least opening your mind to something knowledgeable is a good thing especially if it would make you more aware of what's happening in the world and how shocking of what we have done in these past few decades alone. This is a spoiler, but one chart strikes my mind when Al Gore presents the fact that the amount of people living in this world from the yester-millenniums to year 1945 was only about 2.3 billion, and then from 1945 to 2005, we have been fattening ourselves to a staggering amount of 6.4 billion people!! Nice, eh?

An Inconvenient Truth won several Oscars in 2007 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature, and Original song, a powerful song by Melissa Etheridge titled "I Need to Wake Up". Those awards definitely already say something about the quality of the movie, and with nice song in the end credits scene, it does give you more than just a lesson of global warming, it's an enjoyable movie in its own way. But truly it's the overall content that would really intrigue you more about global warming.
