The A-Team by day and South Africa by night. Some people were having fun watching the big screen of The A-Team (2010) and then went home to watch the Soccer match of the World Cup 2010! Double pleasure for fans of both the A-Team and the World Cup. I know I had that pleasure. And then it struck me that I've seen an episode once where The A-Team is doing their mission in Africa. And it'd be great time now to watch again how both of them got together, and Diamonds 'n Dust is the episode that will see how The A-Team doing some action in a country in Africa.

The movie opens with a stock footage of the fauna life in Africa and then the story shifts in to a carnival. An attractive blonde girl, Toby Griffin (Kristen Meadows) is seeking help from The A-Team to help her in fighting the greedy diamond typhoon, Fletcher (Albert Salmi), who has killed her father in cold blood back in Africa. Apparently the fatso boss wants to own and control every single diamond mine in the vicinity no matter how small it is. Poor Toby's father who only wanted the mine for simple romance reason. And so after Toby's credibility got tested by Colonel Hannibal (George Peppard) who disguises as Louie, The A-Team sets off to Africa with a payment of US $210,000.

In Africa, in a town of a country called "Zulabwe", a bunch of Fletcher's goons try to intimidate Hannibal, Toby and Amy. But those miserable dudes are messing with the wrong muscles alright, for Hannibal and Sergeant B. A. (Mr. T) know exactly how to teach them some lessons in pain. However, their mission is long from over, because Toby's father's mine is located in a difficult area to get into and the team is getting constant fight from the goons. What will happen in the mine?

The A-Team: Diamonds 'n Dust film still 3

Diamonds 'n Dust is the first episode of the second season that's aired in 1983. And it's got the usual fun wacky loony material of The A-Team TV-Series. Basically what makes this episode unique is the location and the scenery of Africa. And it's very amusing to see Captain "Howling Mad" Murdock (Dwight Schultz) bringing along his Teddy Bear "Boogey", which irritates Sergeant B. A. even more. Lieutenant Faceman's (Dirk Benedict) romantic approach to their client, Toby, doesn't get any positive response. Well what can I say? Kristen Meadows's performance is wooden. And Amy Allen's (Melinda Culea) skill in this episode could also be said as useless. The good thing is the brawl is good, the gunfights are good but probably the best punch line is when B. A. designs a quite-surprising "vehicle" to overcome their difficult position.

Perhaps it would have been livelier had it involves more of the locals instead of just the goons and probably a little bit of "real" interaction with the animals instead of just combined scenes. Nevertheless, I personally like this episode not because of the action but because of what I mentioned before, the location, although there isn't any definite clue that the movie was shot in any particular country in African Continent, still the sunny day, the harsh climate, the bushes provide a different atmosphere. Plus they got do some climbing too while carrying dangerous stuff.

Diamonds 'n Dust might not be memorable, but it would still amuse its audience in some degree.
