One of the reasons why you are watching action movie is hoping to get a good entertainment and a feel of excitement. But sometimes the actors themselves are not that excited to act in that movie or probably the script itself is dull and only depends on the pyrotechies to 'brighten' things up. But Crank is different...

Crank already has a theme that "force" its leading cast (Jason Statham) to perform the fullest out of him. Because Jason's character is the action itself. Jason's character requires full action non stop sweating and heart pumping in order to stay alive. That alone already seems to be a valid guarantee that the word "Action" would storm the movie till the end. And yup, that could not be more right.

Chev Chelios (Jason Statham) is an assassin who has failed to accomplish the latest mission given to him, because his sense of humanity strikes in on the wrong time. The consequences for his decision is that he's drugged and injected by his boss with a demented virus that would make his heart stop in just a short time. The only way to prevent this virus mobility inside Chev's body is for Chev's body to produce adrenalin all the time that serves as a block to inhibit the virus. Now this is not an easy option, since adrenalin is produced mainly only if you keep on feel excited all the time. So Chev Chelios tries everything he could, from a crazy shoot outs on the streets, gains public attention that would be embarrassing to do in a normal condition, dragging along his girlfriend Eve (Amy Smart) in his situation and some others adrenalin-rushed actions.

Sounds like a non-stop action film eh? Absolutely. A movie where there's only a little time to think, and where the phrase "stop thinking and do something" probably should be this fast-paced movie alternative tagline. Kudos for Jason Statham who do almost all the stunts by himself without the help of CGI (Computer Generated Imagery). He's one freakin' daredevil, I mean after seeing his scene on the chopper, whew, those who afraid of height would probably shake their head in amazement.

Crank is a great action movie with a great theme and solid action-type performances from all members of the cast would probably not be memorable, because Crank is soulless and actually empty in character development and sometimes directed in an over-stylish way. However for its short running time (not more than one hour an a half), Crank manages to drench the audiences with adrenalin and good entertainment.
