Call me old-school, but I could not be more happy to know that Rambo is back! Ever since my eyes locked unto the TV back in the 80s upon watching Rambo kickin' bad guys' ass, I thought to myself, this guy rocks! Most sequels takes 2 or probably even 1 year to be released, but Rambo took 20 years since the last entry in Rambo's franchise was released back in 1988. And honestly, there is this one thing that is most touching about the memory First Blood (Rambo I), The music! No doubt, a guarantee of one heck of an action movie!

Rambo is not just a tough guy, but he is also holding high moral value of life and honesty. In 1988 he fought with the people of Afghanistan that were butchered, raped and killed by the Russian. And since that war has over now, so where could he be...Burma! Rambo flies to Burma to deal with some severe matters. And the filmmakers cleverly open the film with informative scenes and devastating ones.

Some might say that Slyvester Gardenzio Stallone is too old to be in an action movie, who cares?! I've seen many flicks that the main actor is replaced with someone new, and the result? Suck. No once can replace the charm of the original actors, at least not as perfect. Yes, Sly is a bit old to wear that jungle war outfit, but I'm pretty sure the fans would have been really disappointed had he been replaced with someone else. And fortunately, Stallone doesn't lose his charm and he is still agile in doing those action moves like running, firing his weapons and things like that.

Rambo is what a depiction of a Hero should be, he doesn't sweat small stuff and simply aim for the big stuff. He doesn't talk much, but Stallone's character is far from being wooden or stiff. His gaze is already deadly, man..! This old dude still knows his way around.

Now for more tehcnical aspects. The blood, ah yes the movie is filled with red fluid here and there and with gore level that is fairly high, that I was even thinking to put this under Horror Thriller genre. The cinematography also deserves critical acclaim for its exotic-deadly-but-beautiful countryside of Burma. It's not for the faint-hearted, since it really depicts the cruelty of war, from torture, booby traps, sniper, machine guns, explosion, child killing and rape. I think, this is not an intention to exploit those things but to remind the audience of the fear of war.

Stallone sitting at the director chair really knows how to stir up the audience emotion, most of the earlier scenes are dedicated to make the bad guys really (Really) bad, it is impossible for you not to hate the guts out of them. The good thing is, those scenes are not just heartbreaking but also stylish! Look at the man with his glasses reflecting fire, just like the eyes of the devil, saucy...

Moreover when most movies are just shying away from torturing the bad guys, and vote to even rude to the good guys. Not in Rambo though, rambo and his friends really know how to get things even. Satisfaction guaranteed.

There are some (a lot exactly) sequels that are suitable only for fans, but Rambo could amuse either fans or general moviegoers alike. You don't watch it, your loss. John Rambo beat the craps out of John McClane and leaves him battered and bruised. Even Rambo's proverb is more of a something than McClane. Compare these lines: "Live for nothing or die for something" to "Live free die hard" (Die Hard IV)....?! Duh! Rambo rules!
