Ahhh....What a Delight!! Shoot..Shoot...Shoot....Shoot 'Em Up!! Shoot the whole freakin' things up! Aw Yeah! This movie sure really rocks things up! This is what a pure action movie should be! Non-stop action all the way to the end tip of the bullet baby! This is a kind of movie where I'll be willing to give up and set aside all common sense and other small flaws, in return for the fun I will have!
So, the story is about Mr. Smith (Clive Owen) who helps a pregnant woman that almost got executed down in the alley, Smith shoots things up and even helps the woman deliver her baby. Unfortunately, she finally got killed, so Smith decides to take the baby while being chased and shot at by a band of well-dressed shooters led by Hertz (Paul Giamatti). Smith than takes the baby to a bordello asking his prostitute friend Donna Quintano (Monica Belucci) to nurse the baby. Both of them then got chased by Hertz and his mercs where all the action is just about to be heated-up.
Action, sarcastic quip, bloody actions, more sarcastic jokes, bloodier actions, and more sinister jokes, what a ride down to the action alley! A film that defines the word action! No whining, no mourning, no blah blah blah. Simple, Mr. Smith is a guy who hates everything and shoots everything. He runs, he shoots, he kicks, punches, slides, jumps, eats carrots and then shoots some more! Smith just goes agro to every freakin' people that he thinks unsympathetic or pompous enough to be whacked.
Ever know a thing so innocent like a stick of carrot could be a deadly weapon? And just hear the quips Smith spits out! Freakin' funny! Adrenalin rushing, ruuushing where there's no need for brain, no need for chitty chat, heck! Even the making-love scene is fulla action! Clive Owen sure perfectly performs the ever-angry Smith, and Paul Giamatti also perfectly fits the antagonist role, only Monica Belucci that I think seems wooden all the time, too bad, but that too I could overlook it.
The action scenes in this movie is like when you were still a third-grader back in the classroom and really got bored with the lesson, and then you would draw matchstick men fighting each other doing some cool awesome moves that you could only imagine.
Forget the plot alright, forget all the logic, this is a freakin awesome ride to the narnia of action dude! The sturdy freakin' agro guy with all the cool awesome moves!
Maybe he's the punisher type guy with his own brand of justice or maybe just a good aggressive guy, who cares....As long as smith keeps on shooting at someone or something, I sure hope a sequel will be next in line! Yeah, Shoot 'Em Up!
