What a full of joy November! For this month I've had so much fun with Borat. A great and a hilarious experience in seeing a comedy movie that I rarely experience anymore. And what a character Borat Sagdiyev is, he's just like Mr. Bean, only with more advance capability in speaking and also with no boundaries in saying his thoughts. Although the closest resemblance of Borat character along with all of his type of jokes is not a new thing for those of you who have seen "Ali G Show".
Borat Sagdiyev (Sacha Baron Cohen) is a reporter from Kazakhstan, who is sent by the government of Kazakhstan along with Borat's producer Azamat Bagatov (Ken Davitian) to go to U.S and A (America) to learn some lessons to be applied when Borat is back in Kazakhstan. The naive Borat doing his job well, until he sees on his TV a woman in red bathing suit named C.J. (Pamela Anderson) on a television series called Baywatch and instantly falls head over heal for Pamela. From that moment on, Borat changes the course of his expedition with Azamat who keeps on following Borat without knowing Borat's real intention. Will Borat ever find Pamela? and how does he learn from the American culture?
First warning before seeing this movie, Borat knows no boundaries in saying things. And if you see and could feel that all the actors and actresses in this movie act so normally, is that because they are! Almost all of them, with the exception of Borat, Azamat, Luenell, and of course Pamela Anderson, were no actors at all! They were almost clueless to what was really happening when they saw Sacha Baron Cohen doing his actions. Even the native language of Borat is no Kazakh language at all, it's a Slavic language.
This picture speaks for itself..
Funny? yes! Very very funny, a kind of comedy that will linger in your mind. It doesn't just entertain you in its running length, but also after you have seen it, it will still amuse you. It lingers in your mind both for its jokes and for its material. Laugh-out-moments are not that many actually, but it's the little ones...the little chuckle-inducing scenes that would make you want to repeat it again and again with your friends after leaving the theater.
Borat is a must see film, a great hybrid between The terminal (the old and simple but clever jokes), Jackass (crazy acts and naked fight between two men) and Mr. Bean (naive personality) would probably give you a clearer view on this wacky funny movie. There's one thing aside from the jokes that tickles me, never have I felt the need to see Pamela Anderson so badly, never have I waited for her so curiously, Borat has successfully transforms her into something highly worth to wait. Thus everything in it makes Borat a really entertaining movie as long as you have “thick” ears.
