DATE MOVIE
Storyline:1.5 stars
Cast:2 stars
Ending:1.5 stars
Overall:
1 stars

Here is how the rule goes, if you want to make fun of someone's movie, make darn sure it will be a fun movie. Such as that is not the case in Date Movie. I sit through the entire movie just for two main purposes and of course one of them is to make a review for you and the other one is solely for my curiosity, curiosity to find out what movies have the filmmakers made fun of.

Date Movie revolves around Julia Jones (Alyson Hannigan) an obese woman and a cook in her Dad's Greek Diner (Eddie Griffin), who is in desperate needs for a date. Actually that's pretty much it, starting from that, none other than scenes of other movies' spoof. Okay, here's what Julia does, she meets Grant Funkyerdoder (got it?) while Grant (Adam Campbell) is eating at the diner, but after Julia accidentally knocks Grant to the floor, Grant is suddenly nowhere to be seen. Feeling sad, Julia then goes to see a love expert (movie: Hitch), she enrolls in Reality TV Show (movie: The Bachelor) where Grant is the Bachelor, they get together and express their joy by beating up a bum (movie: independent movie bum fighting), they meet Julia's parents (movie: Meet the Parents), meet Grant's parents (movie: Meet the Fockers), go to a wedding planner (movie: The Wedding Planner) named Jell-O (Jennifer Lopez), then blah blah blah.....

At the first few minutes Date Movie is quite interesting, but then it becomes an incoherent mess, it's like seeing a mixture of a couple of absent-minded persons' memories of films that they have watched. Oh, make that absolutely dull absent-minded people. Good thing about this film is the cast are likeable actors, they are comical and do not overact things (which is unnecessary in this boring movie).

Date Movie still 2

Director Aaron Seltzer and writer Jason Friedberg seem to don't care much about the plot or the importance of a story in a movie, Okay in some cases that's acceptable in comedy genre, but as long as the movie is funny and fun! I figuratively sicken by the jokes, and I'm not easily disgusted persons, and literally had to put away my popcorn. How am I not supposed to feel disgust, seeing a woman with dirty and sticky spider web jus before her crotch?

Date Movie serves only as a short on screen trailers for other comedy and romantic movies. And highly-likely it only appeals to some people who never experience seeing a good comedy movie before. List of movies that I recall have been spoofed aside of what I've stated above: My Big Fat Greek Wedding (it serves as the main theme), Pimp my ride, When Harry met Sally, Girls gone Wild, Pretty Woman, and about 20 other movies in the same genre. Had it been less to he list and more to the movie, maybe Date Movie would have been a more exciting comedy flick.
