The Movie Review
Back in 1996 and 1997 if you heard a catchphrase that's so popular that says "Show me the money" what did you know about it? Well, that quote was borrowed from the movie Jerry Maguire. That quote is so popular that the American Film Institute decided to put it on their AFI 100 Most Famous Quote All Time list. It was the line of Cuba Gooding Jr. in a conversation with Tom Cruise.
Jerry Maguire was a box office success and really deserved to be nominated for several Academy Awards, for Best Picture, Best Screenplay, Best Film Editing and Tom Cruise himself was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role. Cuba Gooding Jr. is simply put, frantically hilarious. No wonder he

also got nominated for 1996 Golden Globe Best Supporting Actor by and even won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. All those things summoned up were maybe the reason why AFI also put Jerry Maguire on its list of AFI Top 100 Most Passionate Movies.
There are already a lot of movie concerning sports, from the coach point of view or from the athletes their selves. Jerry Maguire attempts to score from a distinctive point of view which is the sports agent's point of view, the person that this movie claims to be forgotten by the publicity/media.
Jerry Maguire is a sports agent who used to favor relationship first with the athlete and put money in second, but after gaining a remarkable success he is now obsessed only with money. Jerry (Tom Cruise) realizes this and writes a short writing about his fault and to realize that personal relationship is much more important than money thus his writing gains much praise from his colleagues and a kind-hearted single mother Dorothy Boyd (Renée Zellweger). Unfortunately luck is not yet on Jerry's side as he gets fired and leaves everything but only Dorothy that follows him.
Jerry is now stuck without clients but only an underdog football player Rod Tidwell (Cuba Gooding Jr.). Jerry tries so hard to elevate Rod's Status but hindered by Rod's attitude itself, plus Jerry has to deal with his work life with Dorothy that has mixed with love life. Will Jerry be able to set foot firmly again in the business?
Remarkable...all leading cast act remarkably connected here, in a sense they all have pleasant and lovely chemistry together. Tom and Renée are charming and they could be easily believed to be a true couple. Other cast members that populate this film are also appealing. A scene of Jerry with Dorothy's son Ray Boyd is anything but touching, the way Jerry looks at him and the way Ray (Jonathan Lipnicki) snuggles, it really shows their acclaim-worthy acting quality.
I do also believe that Renée Zellweger has made its breakthrough role with Jerry Maguire, added that her line is also memorable that it's also has been put by the AFI on their list along with Cuba Gooding's line. What line? "You had me at hello". What a smitten kitten!
You could hear many great songs that are not just great but also a great choice for setting up the mood. And I don't know whether the filmmakers have deliberately chosen the warm color tone or not, but it's a great decision. For a warmhearted movie like this, a combination of the colours and the songs are spellbinding.
Jerry Maguire is a simple movie with a simple storyline nonetheless with tempting dialogue and top-notch performances by its cast, thus make Jerry Maguire captivatingly charming.
