The Movie Review
Repli-Kate is another entry from National Lampoon in the comedy world that brings a load of gross humor for teen everywhere. Recent years teenagers have been spoiled with so many comedy of this type, the one that exploit teenage curiosity of the opposite sex. Well, there's one thing though that's really interesting about Repli-kate...It dares to enliven one of teenagers deepest secret! To really have a girlfriend/boyfriend that loves us head over heels although IT is only a clone, c'mon admit that guys!
The plot revolves around Max, a grad student that with Dr. Jonas develops a cloning machine. The machine actually is a product of Max (James Roday), but he's laying low because of the over-ambitious personality of Dr. Jonas (Eugene

Levy). One day a sexy reporter named Kate Carson (Ali Landry) comes by to make story about the cloning activity in the college, which soon enough becomes the love-interest of Max's. Later Kate accidentally drops her blood on the cloning sample. Afterwards poof..., Max just got himself a one sexy looking clone of Kate who is named Repli-kate.
This is where an idea helps the filmmakers, a thing that keeps them control the budget efficiently. An idea that probably and arguably was a daydream of one the filmmakers himself. Can't blame that, who doesn't want a perfect girlfriend/boyfriend, right? Unfortunately Repli-kate is not a perfect movie. Mainly, the only strong positive point of this teen flick is the idea of cloning your dream girl. The rest of the story merely just tags along. Being a comedy movie, yeah there are quite many funny moments, mainly because of the confusion that the real Kate and Repli-kate makes. It's nice to see how the boys try to teach repli-kate to be their dream girl, and how Ali Landry could perform both as the naive and innocent Repli-kate and as the smart reporter Kate. Being a sexy actress is needed to boost up her performance as a clone though.
National Lampoon's Repli-Kate still has the advantage of the wacky-hype which American Pie (1999) had created earlier. And a twist in the storyline of Repli-kate has made this film entertaining and quite fun to watch.
