The Movie Review

What do have in mind when you see a movie poster crammed with a lot of characters from different movies? Yup, highly-likely it'll be a spoof movie. I'm talking about this latest spoof movie "The Comebacks". Now, we have Horror movies Spoofs, teen movies spoofs, romantic movies spoofs, heck even epic movies spoofs. So I guess it's about time there's a spoof of action sports movies.

Okay so let's meet our loser (figuratively), Coach Fields (David Koechner) who holds a record or the worst coach on the planet, that flunks out his own team by a series of clumsy and irresponsible acts. He's approached by his fellow coach Freddie (Carl Weathers) who tells him about a vacant coaching position in a small town in Plainfolk, Texas. Coach Fields goes there along with his family and tries to build the new football team, a team

comprises of oddballs, from a retard like-to-hump-on-someone's-leg guy to the future-star who practices in a ballet suit. Will Coach Fields be able to proof to the world that he's not an all-time loser?

Really, if a movie already has already taken the advantages from other movies, the filmmakers should at least think of something funny and truly laugh-inducing. Being a spoof movie doesn't mean that all you do is put on some dirty raunchy vulgar jokes and hope that it'll make the audience laugh. You know, I appreciate the intention to spoof some sports movies, I do too want to know how they'll be parodied, but The Comebacks is really not funny. I got laugh once in a while but really...if I'd added up the laughing seconds, it wouldn't even reach 2 minutes. So for me personally from the whole 1 hour and 42 minutes running length, 2 minutes is nothing.

Just so you know some of the sports films spoofed in The Comebacks are Remember the Titans, Bring It On, Gridiron Gang, Bad News Bears, Rocky Balboa, Blue Crush, Radio, The Longest Yard, and some others.

I was hoping that since The Comebacks spoofs action sports movies, it would present us some cool and engaging sports scenes and actions, but nope. The sports scenes are really not funny, a tad interesting but again not funny. Sigh...
