Hmmm...one of my favorite actresses...the beautiful Sandra Bullock, stars as Linda Hanson in a drama movie regarding one of mysterious phenomena in life, the premonition. First of all, I put Premonition as a drama movie because it doesn't have enough terrifying moment to put it under the thriller genre. And second of all, Premonition is anything but a light-hearted drama, it's so melancholy, it reminds you of how precious your loved ones are, in a very serious tone.
Linda Hanson lives her perfect live along with her husband Jim (Julian McMahon) and their two beautiful daughters Bridgette (Courtney Taylor Burness) and Megan (Shyann McClure). But her serenity life and her sane mind are about to be disturbed when one day Linda receives the
news that Jim has died in a car accident. After a long day of grieving, Linda falls asleep in the couch while hugging her wedding photo tightly in her arms. The next day, she finds to her shock that Jim is still alive and well, and her sanity is about to be tested when the following days her life is being tossed between dreams and reality with the premonition of her Husband's death and all depressing moments in Linda's life. Should Linda believe on the premonitions? And if she does, could she make use of them to prevent the devastating tragedy?
The movie quality of Premonition highly depends on the performance of Sandra Bullock, thankfully she performs very well, and she could make the audience feel empathetic of Linda's life, on how confused we are if we were in her situation. I said this, because Premonition doesn't have enough twists to differ it from other movies sharing the same theme, although as a film itself, it's a good one. So actually most of the time Sandra Bullock's acting is solely what we see.
I was quite disappointed finding out that there isn't enough tense in Premonition, but speaking for the Drama genre, Premonition is fit nicely to the genre. If you’re sensitive enough, you might leave the theater not with a feeling of contentment but with a deep thinking of time and of life.
