HACK!

What the heck?! What an awkward horror movie! Starting everything with clichés and continuing the storyline with clichés and ending it up with clichés... Do I mind? Not at all! Cliché is a good thing as long as it's executed well, but in this film, it's not!

I'm even still shocked by its ridiculous material, gaping...! Okay, now Hack!'s storyline well, basically just ripping off every notable horror films in the history of movie industry. The plot is tied up with a cliché story of seven college students comprises of horror movies stereotypes stranded/deserted/trapped/tricked/orWhatever on a remote island where they are mysteriously hacked! One after another by a mysterious figure with mysterious motive. That's it Ladies and Gentlemen...that's the whole plot.

I just can't believe the way this movie's executed, the storyline and the dialogue are either very brave or very mind-numbing. The characters are also deliberately referring and discussing other horror movies. The whole acting is bad, and the lines are also bad, and the characters are totally forgettable. How could they be memorable when basically they just insinuate other characters on other different movies. The protagonist named Johnny (Jay Kenneth Johnson) once says in the movie that his friends are the moth-eaten victim stereotypes. More or less he says they are the Jock football player Tim (Travis Schuldt), the Hot foreign exchange student Sylvia (Gabrielle Richens), the Black guy "Q" (Wondgy Bruny), the Flamboyant Asian Ricky (Justin Chon), the Heavy metal chick Maddy (Adrienne Frantz), and the Innocent girl with glasses Emily (Danica McKellar). And the punch line...., their teacher's name is Mr. Argento, well it's not Mr. Dario Argento one of the most famous figure in gory world, I suppose?

Gore? Gory Scenes? Of course. It splatters all over, and that's probably the most infamous aspect of this movie. It relies heavily on the gory scenes and overuses them into something very unpleasant. The musical score even tells you when the killing is going to occur. Even the old "boo surprises" that seem would be the salvation of this movie are wasted. This film is neither scary nor funny. At one scene Ricky will even dance wildly in the middle of the woods with a dance song coming out of nowhere.

The title Hack! Actually refers to all kinds of killing and incidents that befall upon those college students where every detail of them mimicking the same killing methods that have been used by some famous and/or notorious horror movies. The only people who could actually enjoy this movie are those who know the history of horror movie very well. Short study of horror history if I may say.

It's sad to see a movie with a potential to be good and even great turns out to be some kind of a rushed spoof/parody movie of brutal horror movies.
