“In 3 Tagen Bist Du Tot” or "Dead in 3 Days" is one of the reasons why I always restrain myself from panning clichés. Some filmmakers learn and by learning they try to make something good for the audience, but sometimes they learnt too well that they forgot to improvise, but that doesn't matter to me as long as what the movie they're giving is entertaining or at least good.

Produced, acted and directed all by Austrian Filmmakers, this horror movie successfully combined the good things from the past decade Slasher/Horror movies, it combines suspense, mystery, horror, pretty actresses and of course their own style of directing and camerawork.

After celebrating their graduation, Nina Wagner (Sabrina Reiter) and her four friends who have always been together since they're kids are driving home recklessly because they're still full of joy. But on their way, one of them hits a passing animal, but it's still breathing. They decide to just kill it instead of taking it to a Veterinarian, to put it out of its misery. Arriving at her doorstep, Nina gets a text message (sms) that reads "in 3 tagen bist du tot". At first she thinks of it as a mere hoax and left it behind. At the party however, after her friends tell her that every one of them gets the same verbatim message, they realize that this is dead serious matter. Their fear escalates when one of their friends is found dead the next morning.

Racing against time and solving mystery at the same time already promising something thrilling for the audience. Now, it means the rest of the movie depends on--to name a few--the actors and the dialogue. Although I3TBDT is a regular slasher flick, but the entire cast could live up the terror atmosphere. I could look some serious worried expression on their faces and each actor of the leading cast gives solid performance with convincing shrieks and despair on their faces. But the one who truly deserved the acclaim is Sabrina Reiter, her performance is all out, no inhibitions in the way she screams, runs, scared, now that's the kind of performance that could ease the boredom of seeing clichés.

Still this horror film has its flaws. They storyline, although good, but could not keep the mystery charm for long, after the audience given a hint of "whodunit", then I3TBDT abruptly loses the tension. And finally seeing the real villain in this movie, has just made me flabbergasted and thinking "Are you serious, is that person really cut out to do such killings?", the villain's character is just not interesting at all. Oh my, what a bummer to this potentially good movie.

I3TBDT is probably the loose concoction of I Know What You Did Last Summer series, Scream series and Ring (1998). And If could overlook that villain figure, than I could really enjoy the rest of this slasher movie.
