Usually, good movies or famous movies (although not good) will spawn many movies with similar theme and plot. Most of Internet users back in 2006 probably have heard or read about Snakes on a Plane with Samuel L. Jackson as the lead actor. After that movie, there are 2 notably movies that one of them is very ridiculous which titled Snakes on a Train, and another one is very good which named Plane Dead (or in other title Flight of the Living Dead: Outbreak on a Plane).

Now I hate the concept that Plane Dead was produced mimicking Snakes on a Plane, because Plane Dead is way better than SOAPlane. You don't have to watch with everyone knowing Samuel L. Jackson to enjoy Plane Dead. This movie combines gory, horror, and even comedy perfectly. While SOAPlane is plunging to stupidity and brainlessness, Plane Dead is really deserved to be praised.

This aptly entitled movie, Plane Dead which contents is really anything but plain dead, tells a story of virus that turns people into zombies that happens on a flight from Los Angeles to Paris. A group of mad scientists lead by Leo Bennett (Erick Avari) carries a variant of Malaria virus which is contained in a body of a person that's securely locked up in cargo. They even order a guard to protect the cargo in case something goes wrong. Of course something goes wrong! It creeps out of the cargo area and seeks for other fresh fleshes on the passenger area.

Now, the zombies here are not the kinds that walk slowly and clumsily, they are much more clever and agile, that concept makes this film more interesting. If you already familiar with other zombie movies especially the ones that created by George A. Romero, then probably Plane Dead could quench your thirst. The gory, yes the gory scenes are good and there are plenty of that, with zombies munching happily.

All the actors even though they are not that famous, but they perform harmoniously well. Although there a few supporting actors that really act over-the-top and downright fake, thankfully there aren't too many of them. Besides, not having known them that much would make us feel that the movie is much more believable. I mean, if you see famous actors in Plane Dead, probably you would think "what is he doing in there anyway after I saw him shooting and kicking some ass and flirting with hot women on another movie(s)?” If only they’re acting just like Erick Avari.

Plane Dead is one those movies that really should be widely released in theater all over the world. I'm positive that if Plane Dead had been hyped all over the net, then many many people would have considered that Plane Dead really flies way above Snakes on a Plane (2006). Plane Dead has its own charm, that would really please horror and especially zombie movies aficionados.
