The Movie Review

This year, moviegoers have watched horror movies ranging from really twisted to really stupid. From the ones that should not have been released to the ones that should have been more produced. Take it for example, The Descent, Slither, Wilderness, The Hills Have Eyes, Final Destination 3, Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning to The Covenant, The Breed, Lady in the Water, and Snakes on a Plane (Duh...). Fairly assorted flavor for Horror Aficionados.

Luckily on October, we have another one and this time, this horror flick is actually tasty. It's called Salvage. Performed by relatively unknown actors and actresses, with minimum budget but intertwined with a simple but strong

storyline. Salvage still revolves around serial killer but now with a touch of supernatural terror.

Claire Parker (Lauren Curries Lewis) is a regular college student who also works at the local 24hr mini market. She's waiting for her boyfriend to pick her up, but he doesn't show up, it's his friend instead. So the man, whose name is Duke Desmond, takes Claire home with his truck. Claire finds him very suspicious and perverted. Claire can't be more wrong for she is eventually killed by this man. Poof... the next morning Claire wakes up normally and think of it just as a nightmare, but when Claire constantly being terrorized and she feels it very real. She is only wake up again only to find out the Duke Desmond is a serial killer who has been executed and died. Is it only a nightmare while Claire never ever knows before about Duke? Or is it real. Whatever it is, Claire is in for a shocking surprise.

Usually I don't buy a scene that when the terror is about to shows up, it's being cued by the music. But hearing the creepy and simple music, I'll have to give up my first opinion. Because nearly everything in Salvage, perfectly fit in their respective place. The gore scene, oohh if you're not cringing than I don't know anymore. As the storyline unfolds, it starts to combine psychological thriller and even paranoid thriller. The thing is, it's splendid for making you keep on guessing until near the end of the movie.

Lauren Curie performs totally excellent with all her screaming and facial expression. But once you got attached with her, don't be hoping that she would also give it all-out-of-her-clothes too), just enjoy her acting cause that's not gonna happen.

Hey, you know what...you are too for a big surprise! Yes, because Salvage has one of the worst ending scene for a horror movie! That's right, so if you're feeling that I've been giving credit to this movie from the first sentence than I end it with a bad conclusion, because that's exactly what the audiences would feel in watching Salvage. You enjoy the storyline and keep on watching until the finale just yank you out of your place. Duh...!
