The Texas Chainsaw Massacre..., ever heard of that? Well, it's originally a horror movie released back in the 70s which loosely based on a real story of a serial killer named Ed Gein who lived in Wisconsin. This remake here, as also its original movie, tells the story of a family of serial killers living in Texas. And as a inspired-by-reality slasher film, this is the real deal. Don't get disappointed first by the formula that seems moth-eaten, because although moth-eaten according to nowadays' trend, at least several facts are still attached to it, facts of what Ed Gein had done.

Set in the early 70s, five college students are on their way to Mexico, they are Erin (Jessica Biel), Kemper (Eric Balfour), Morgan (Jonathan Tucker), Pepper (Erica Leerhsen) and her boyfriend Andy (Mike Vogel). Presumably they are about to indulge in some hedonistic act. On their way through Travis County, Texas, they are almost road kills a girl who walks soullessly, they decide to pick her up and take her home.

But their decision of giving salvation to the girl brings those five friends to the most unimaginable real terror and torture that leave them thinking that being dead is a better option.

TCM (remake) doesn't waste any chit-chat from the beginning, and starts the pace of terror and horror right from the first few minutes. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is something dark, scary and horrifying. The video is kept to low light and gritty which is just perfect to add the dark atmosphere to the whole storyline.

Speaking of the cast, Jonathan Tucker is a good side-kick, the one that actually has a distinctive character, added also that the rest of the lead cast performs fairly well. They deliver their lines and terror in an acceptable horror movie manner, or simply put, they're not exaggerating things. But Jessica Biel is the real star for her great frightened expression and multiple "Freezing" scenes.

Freeze of Fear

TCM is the kind of horror film something that makes the word Slasher rings true, this is a movie where all good ol' horror emotions meet. Back in the 50s, Ed Gein shocked America, and the filmmakers of TCM did a good job to mimic the terror.
