What can you expect from a movie with its character in panic saying: "Eww... it's a wild mushroom! The thing has vein! And it's purple!", now if you don't know what's she talking about, it means that you are not old enough, so stay away from this movie kids! :-) If you are, then let's continue deeper into the story before you decide to buy or rent 18 Year Old Virgin.

Katie Powers (Olivia Alaina May) is an 18 Year old virgin who's falling in love head over heels to her friend since kindergarten, Ryan Lambert (Dustin Harnish). But Ryan apparently doesn't have a clue about her feeling and even worse for Katie because Ryan has vowed never to have a relationship with a virgin anymore due to his traumatic experience. On the other hand, Katie, being rejected on the party straightforwardly by Ryan, vows to lose her virginity, just so she can have Ryan for good. Of course, Katie's best friend, Rose (Lauren Walsh) is more than happy to hook her up with a nice guy (or guys?) to help her in the mission.

But what she doesn't know is that one of her friends since kindergarten, Spencer (Todd Leigh), has a long history of crush on Katie and Spencer is just happened to be the one who Rose picks first to be Katie's first guy. But is it going to be really that smooth? What will Katie's experience in her journey to losing virginity and can she eventually be together with Ryan?

First of all, the title is cheesy, the cover is an obvious sign to lotsa nudity, and the demographic audience is clear and you won't see this on movie cinema since this is a direct to video film, so... Is it logical if you pop in the DVD with big expectation? NO mate, ease your mind and you'll enjoy it.

A compliment should go to the lead actresses, since they all got a chance to amuse the audience with their nude scenes. Quite a rarity where the spotlighted girls usually the ones that won't show you anything except for their ineptitude in acting. But Olivia Alaina May and Lauren Walsh give decent performances for this type of sex comedy. You see, the atmosphere of 18 Year Old Virgin is very laid-back. And as usual the humor is a gross out and definite raunchy, we got vomiting, failed self-pleasure scene, and even to failed shaving scene. But each lead cast could enliven the story and the dialogue aren't over the top but still manage to give you chuckles. The colour play is very nice to build up the atmosphere and the songs are quite nice too.

18 Year Old Virgin is clearly a low budget movie and an Independent one. We practically don't even get to see other location except that house where the party is going on. But the bad thing is that sometimes the jokes won't work and the target audience is very segmented. I even doubt that male population would like the story but on the contrary, women and girls would probably be amused by it.

Well, our world is full of any kind of people. There's a woman who would go at any length to get her virginity back just to please her future husband, and then there is a virgin like Katie Powers. So, if she's yours cup of tea, then go rent the movie! You might just rent this comedy flick more than once.
