I love this movie...! Right from the very first minute it already captured my attention. Invasion of the Bee Girls has all those lovable traits of 70s grindhouse entertainment. I wish I could experience those moments, even though I did used to sit on some shoddy theaters in the 80s with my much-older friends, but even in the 80s all the rundown theaters were still much better looking than those in the 70s. Anyhow fellas, my personal liking to this wacky horror and/or sci-fi film is of subjective matter and those who fond of exploitation movies might understand why it is so darn good. This Bee-movie is actually a very low-budget B-movie entertainment that is definitely far from any prestigious awards material. But hey, you know what? These Bee Girls are lovely... So let's check them out!
In the small town of Peckham, California, the situation is getting very discomforting as the days past. It all started when a bacteriologist is found dead in a shoddy motel room, apparently because of his heart failure from having such unbearable sexual act! (Seriously!) But since he used to work for the government, an agent, Neil Agar (William Smith of Piranha (1972) and Red Dawn (1984)), is flewn in to Peckham to investigate his death with the help of the local sheriff.
But as he starts to gather some clues by getting along with an attractive babe scientist, Julie Zorn (Victoria Vetri) ---who has spent the night at the motel with the first victim--- suddenly bodies of men start to piling up. They all dead with gaping mouth in such agony, very similar to the bacteriologist. And now the agent and the sheriff gather the residents and reports three similarities, that all the victims have been men, and they are all residents of Peckham, and they all apparently have been died due to over-exhaustion over the action of sexual intercourse...!
And so now they all have to work extra hard and extra fast to figure out who or what is behind all the killings. Will they ever find out? What will happen in their investigation?
After the screaming in the beginning of the movie, I hastly press the pause button, I knew it wouldn't be a complete viewing experience without popcorns (with extra cheese! Yes!) and a cold coffee. A moment cherish by most cinema-goers I guess. Basically to enjoy this, I did one mandatory act... To leave my brain at the cabinet, you won't be needing any brain to enjoy this B movie gem.
This exploitation, or should I say it more movie-knowledge-ly-speaking as sexploitation, is rather unique for horror fans out there to enjoy... Why? We all know that the victims of many 80s or even modern slasher movies are mostly women. Well, in '73, the victims are all healthy men. The truth is calling this movie as an sexploitation is rather an underestimation. Yes, there is one scene particularly full of topless girls and it's meant to show their nude appearances to the viewers, but the movie actually plays in a thriller or suspense kind of storyline. You'll be intrigued by the suspense as well as the mystery behind all this. And likely you eventually can relate to the characters.
But surprise surprise... That's not the only thing that you'll got. Of course nekkidness plays a Huge Role and even every single lead actress is willing to perform "all out", but it is also exciting to note that there is even a brawl scene when a girl is about to be raped (quite graphic, it might shock you), a hero comes along and kick some as$es, however the fight looks so real! Nice touch!
In a nutshell, Just Get a hold of this movie while it's still exist! Definitely one of the good batch from the 70s grindhouse era.
> Care to get sexed to death? Then date these girls in: Species (1995) and Body of Evidence (1993).
> When Invasion perhaps becomes something unique... Invasion of the Pod People (2007), very rare horror movie titled Invasion of the Blood Farmers (1972) or the slapstick comedy Invasion of the Star Creatures (1962).
