She's hot, she's buxom, she's tough, she's smart, sexy, fun and oh my she's hot (um I've said that before), the thing is she's awesome. But frankly, her movie was Not! Lara Croft is the woman of all those above-mentioned criteria, and her Lara Croft Tomb Raider (2001) was a disappointment. But thinking that its box office revenue was a great success to the filmmakers, a sequel was inevitable. Just hoping that it would deliver better entertainment than the first one. And I mentioned Entertainment, not Quality. The audience knows what to expect. Remember guys, this is after all a movie based on a video game, and we all know most movies based on games were lousy. So don't you watch this movie hoping to see some high-quality motion picture.

The movie opens it story in Santorini, Greece, where Lara Croft is seen riding a jet ski (Angelina Jolie herself and not a stuntwoman) and gathering with her friends to find the biggest treasure..., Alexander the Great's most valuable treasure, The Orb. An Orb, which is secured in the Luna Temple, that serves as a means to find the Pandora's Box. What is a Pandora's Box? Let's just say if it opens than all kind of crappy deadly plagues would come out. Alas! When Lara finally finds it, a bunch of bad guys led by Chen Lo (Simon Yam) steals it from her to sell the Orb to Jonathan Reiss (Ciarán Hinds), a very dangerous and ambitious Nobel-winner-but-wicked scientist looking for the same Pandora's Box with one thing on his mind only...To destroy the mankind (how misanthropy and cliché).

A brave girl that she is, Lara pursues them with the help of Terry Sheridan (Gerard Butler), who is no other than Lara's old flame and is currently imprisoned in Kazakhstan for betraying England. Certainly, Lara's adventure to find Pandora's Box would not go undisturbed. Reiss' men and Chen Lo's gang are ready to kill Lara. And then so Lara and Terry fly from Greece to Kazakhstan, off to Mainland China and then to the magnificent Hong Kong where they would dare the fear of height. Eventually, with the aid of Kosa (Djimon Honsou) who speaks Swahili, Lara and Terry will fight the last fight in Kilimanjaro, Tanzania (which was actually shot in Kenya). They will try to find the Pandora's Box before Reiss and his mercenaries do. Could Lara be there on time...? And will Lara finally soften to Terry...?

And would this action flick make the fans of Tomb Raider yearn for playing the game again?

Brainless it is, but fun to watch. As I said before don't expect some high quality film technique in this sequel of Tomb Raider, but expect to see Angelina Jolie doing some crazy stunts which involve height, speed and explosions! That being said, of course the other real stuntmen would also spice up this motion picture. With the climax is in Hong Kong on top of one of the tallest buildings, there will be some freakin' crazy stunt which is definitely not a work of CGI or visual effects team. With a budget of $120 million, it should mean something right?

Lara Croft Tomb Raider gives us something what the game (mostly) could not deliver...Fast Pace, because Tomb Raider game that I personally have played required thinking. So, with its fast pace and with its varied stunt actions (mostly done by Angelina Jolie herself) from hanging upside down by a real cliff, horse-riding to bayonet-fighting (among others) and to the varied shooting locations, spending 2 hours watching this action film is absolutely worth it. And Angelina Jolie is absolutely an awesome actress in this movie, she has also improved her Lara character better than the first one where she would overdo Lara, but in this sequel she is Lara Croft. And I think fans would not be disappointed in this movie.
