The people of America were shocked by the news headline written by a prominent reporter of Capital Sun Times, Rachel Armstrong (Kate Beckinsale), who had managed to get tips and inside stories from an undisclosed source. According to Rachel, The US government launched a full-fledged active war attack on Venezuela based not on justification but only on gut instinct of the president. Surely news like this will stir up controversy since it is now labeled as the worst foreign policy decision in the nation's history.

Rachel knows the consequences but she doesn't fully realize yet that by knowing this kind of information, she has got what people called as mixed blessing. Fame, good credit but also long days of uneasiness. The government appoints special Federal prosecutor Patton Dubois (Matt Dillon) to do whatever 'legally' necessary to know who Rachel source is since that person/source is now consider as traitor. One woman with a regular husband (David Schwimmer of Friends) and a little boy against the system... What will happen to Rachel Armstrong?

From the very opening scene, you'll know that it's a movie with heavy content. Serious, depressing and unrelenting in giving the audience sense of reality. By saying that, NBTT doesn't try to exploit its story by giving us cheesy contents or illogical plot points. Yari Film Group has been known to produce/distribute this type of movie, a smart one, such as Crash (2005), Find Me Guilty (2006) or The Illusionist (2006). The serious atmosphere of this drama political film is helped greatly with great cast such as Kate Beckinsale, Vera Farmiga, Alan Alda and an actor that has experience in acting as annoying officer, Matt Dillon. And how Vera Farmiga delivers her lines combined with her facial expression, makes me don't feel like seeing a movie anymore. She's very good here.

The opening credits claims that although having been inspired by true events, Judith Miller, NBTT is a fictional film that doesn't depict any actual events of people. Well, even though fictional, but this movie is still scary for staying close to logical things that might happened in the real life. I was actually rather worried that it would somehow turned into over-the-top WIP film (Women in Prison) when Rachel is incarcerated, but it's not! It stays true to the brainy-movie spirit!

All things considered, fans of political drama might wanna give this movie a shot. However, a rent is enough, since this movie doesn't deliver anything extraordinary but still could amuse you on some level.
