Just last night, playing with TV remote control, skimming through the channels and eventually came over a quite so-so (if not bad) movie about airplane terror titled Sonic Impact (2000). Out of mere curiosity I asked one of my best friends since college, Donny H, who works as a pilot for Garuda Airline what would he do if something horrible like the ones in Sonic Impact happened to his plane? He said that since the time of WTC, airplanes are strengthened with CDLS (I don't know what that means!) so the pilot and co-pilot inside the cockpit would be safe from any harm. Well, nice answer there mate. But what about the terror of virus outbreak?! And what about TV Stations playing Quarantine 2: Terminal for Weekend?
In a small airplane of Trans Sky airline flying from a city in Middle Eastern, the stewardesses notice that the pilot is sick with something flu-like. And in this night flight there is nothing very extraordinary with only occasional flirting between a passenger and a stewardess or a small conflict between passengers. But after a man got bitten by a pet hamster, suddenly he goes aggro and showing scary rabies symptoms! From the back of the plane, he storms out to the front and bumps to cockpit door violently and his actions clearly frighten other passengers who are actually only about a dozen. To make matters worse, it turns out to be a very deadly virus which causes some kind of Human Rabies! What will happen to these clueless people?
Well believe it or not, about a year ago I think, there is a small African plane that crashed because there was a smuggle who brought something to the airplane and when it got out, it created havoc which sent all the passengers swarming the cockpit and finally made the airplane became unbalanced and eventually crashed. Do you know what that stupid guy brought...? A snake?! No! But a f*cking crocodile! So with that info on hands, I found Quarantine 2: Terminal really is something that might just happen. And it helps that the writers give several interesting/varied characters on board, such as a couple who engage in overly-intimate act, a selfish man with his pregnant wife, a young flyer who flies on his own, a kind old woman who brings her cat et cetera. These characters are important to suspend this Horror/Thriller movie from the Drama facet. It makes you care and it makes you like or hate some of them.
Quarantine 2: Terminal really caught me by surprise, I was just trying to look for a movie to recommend for you guys this weekend, but man this movie is awesome! The acting is superb, the gory level is shocking and there is this one scene involving eyes that might make you cover your own eyes, the pacing is tight and excellent, the absent of music makes everything feels more real, the camerawork is great, the horror is surprising and not cheesy and some of the storyline is very creative! Quarantine 2: Terminal gives this feeling of desperation is overwhelming especially in the ending scene. And the ending scene is just great! I really never thought that it would be such awesome horror flick that I really enjoyed watching it!
Quarantine 2: Terminal (2011) is the sequel to Quarantine (2008). Quarantine (2008) itself is a remake of Spanish Rec (2007). But hands down, Quarantine 2: Terminal is the rare example where the sequel has much more personality and more amusing! Buy this movie for your weekend and have some chips too, this is a movie very engaging to see!
> More great Airplane fun horror for the weekend: Snakes on a Plane (2006) and Plane Dead (2007)
