Sometimes just by looking at the poster of a movie you already got the picture of what a film will turn out to be. Upon seeing Skinned Alive horrible poster/cover, I already got this baaad vibe. But being curious as I was, I decided to give this movie a spin. And man do repentance comes last.

Novelty or revolutionary is not something of the utmost important for me in viewing and reviewing a movie, the Entertainment value is one of the most crucial aspects. Skinned Alive, although presents a quite titillating story of "Whore in a bloody mission", still all aspects fail miserably. I don't like being harsh on an independent movie, but still I have to try to convey what I think it is. So let me just start to shred this potentially-good-but-eventually-not movie.

Desperate and lonely, two words that best describe our main protagonist Jeffrey (Jack Dillon), an office drone who dates whore after whore every night simply wanting to be with someone. Jeffrey even goes the length of hoping that at least a hooker he sleeps with would really be his date. Alas, even a hooker, and not just one but all of them, reject Jeffrey. What's wrong with him, he is a nice guy, maybe too nice. However on the verge of seemingly committing suicide, Jeffrey eventually finds a hooker with a golden heart named Pandora (Melissa Bacelar). Pandora seems really into Jeffrey, and after they find comfort in each other, Pandora tells Jeffrey her secret. The one that could devastate any living man who's unlucky enough to hear it, that Pandora eats living human flesh just to stay alive, she's a man-eater, literally [don't worry this is not a spoiler, you could tell from the very beginning]. Meanwhile a vengeful mad man (Joshua Nelson) is chasing the oblivious Pandora, making Jeffrey stuck in the middle. What would Jeffrey do after he finally has someone to share his life with and face these horrible facts in the same time?

On the level with you moviegoers, what you're going to get is several sets of breasts in assorted form. Yeah, I know how could a movie with those beauties be an awful one, but this movie is one of those exceptions. And the next best thing is the gore that will appeal to horror aficionados, although looks low-budget but I didn't mind that. With blood here and there with several disembowelment and eating the John(s) fiesta, gore is the strongest upside of Eat Your Heart Out (Skinned Alive other name). That's it, nudity and gore. Could this entry from "Savage Roses" still be a bad horror flick? Sadly yes. Because we don't get any tension, no suspense, no thrill, nothing horror and even nothing romantic. I mention the word romantic because this movie also tries to be a romance movie by taking up the rare theme of cross-species love. No chemistry between Melissa and Jack.

If you looking for a brainless fun, then I still think that you're not going to fully get it. Being Fun is not solely to resort to putting all those sexy babes standing around doing pretty much nothing except to "forget" wearing their bras. What I mean is, at least they could act more or probably given the dialogue more, but they're not. And that's not fun. Although there is one girl who babbles much, but that too is uninteresting. If I have to watch a horror with a theme of cross-species, then I still like better Zombie Honeymoon, which hopefully I could review it next time. The girl is adorable and their relationship (a girl and a half-zombie) is affectionate. And by the way, still concerning a movie for comparison, coming from the same persons behind Skinned Alive which are James Tucker, Joshua Nelson and Melissa Bacelar, I prefer their another 2008 film Pink Eye.

So there you have it, sexy babes and gore. If you still insist on watching this movie, then grab your remote and train your finger to push Fast-Forward button to jump to the good part. Since the pace is also a drag and teased me to go leave this movie and grab a comic book instead.

Putting nudity is something that I definitely not frown upon, but being performed by actresses who blatantly rely only on their breasts is something that I'm not fond of. They simply just stand there and not smiling (by smiling I mean by being adorable and not wooden), what smile has got to do with all the nudity, you probably ask? Smile goes a long way for sure.
