This last week of June 2010, the cinema in Jakarta still crammed with the fans of The A-Team (2010). Well, basically the women demographic (of almost any age) opt to see Sex and The City 2 (2010), while there are also men and women who opt to see Karate Kid (2010). But still, The A-Team studio has got some visitors. So I will add special review from Movielogy about an episode of The A-Team TV Series that was originally aired in the States in 1984.

And this 21st episode of the 2nd season titled "Deadly Maneuvers" has a premise and storyline that I think could be one of the strong candidates, if any filmmakers ever want to make a sequel of The A-Team (2010).

We all know The A-Team and their unique capabilities in solving problem and getting their jobs done with success. But have you ever wondered that there could be some people out there that could be the perfect match to The A-Team skill? Then this episode is the answer. Basically, a bunch of angry crime lords are gathering to hire a mercenary, Major Douglas Kyle (Ed Lauter), and his team of skillful combatants to take revenge on The A-Team who had screwed their crime plans and organizations.

Unfortunately, the timing is very bad for The A-Team because they are getting slow and sluggish, especially Lt. Face (Dirk Benedict). And so their leader, Colonel John "Hannibal" Smith forces Lt. Face as well as Cpt. Murdock (Dwight Schultz) and Sgt. Baracus (Mr. T) to endure rigorous training to get them back in shape. And just when they're exhausted, the mercs strike them one by one. They'll try to get Face with a sexy woman (Barbara Stock) in red Ferrari as bait, Murdock with whimpering dog on the street and the indestructible Baracus with poisoned milk. Letting the most cunning and difficult to get of them all, Hannibal, to bring back things to normal. What will happen to The A-Team? And what will Hannibal do?

By the time this episode was aired, I think The A-Team already had huge lines of fans. And this time it's personal for The A-Team, no one is hiring them, on the contrary, mercs are hired to hunt them down. I know this is an episode of TV-Series and it's kinda ridiculous to be very critical, but still the whole drama should've been more emotional and touching, while this is basically just basic! You hunt, you catch, you let go. The story doesn't go far from that.

The guest stars in this episode including Ed Lauter, an actor who's really familiar with TV Audience for his extensive list of performances in many TV-Series, including another episode of The A-Team from Seasons 1, titled "Black Day at Bad Rock (1983)". However Ed Lauter was reunited with Mr. T in a raunchy comedy called Not Another Teen Movie (2001), which both were playing respectively as the official coach and shadow coach of the lead character. It's kinda nice to see them again, especially Mr. T.

Fortunately the ending scenes salvage the rest of the movie for it's the final showdown between our soldiers of fortune and the bad mercenaries. Yes, it's four against four and they are doing it military style and Murdock plays a big role here, if The A-Team were an RPG game, the highest graphic for stamina would go to Murdock, Hannibal 2nd, B. A. 3rd and Face 4th. But like I've said above, if the story were cooked more and added more emotional ingredients and more colourful characters instead of just somber-looking ex-military men then the premise would be a good candidate of another big screen version of The A-Team.
